Il libro è elaborato da un progetto di ISMEL, Istituto per la Memoria e la Cultura del Lavoro dell’Impresa e dei Diritti Sociali. Lo studio affronta le condizioni urbana, architettonica, costruttiva, produttiva, economica, del design, e della socialità nelle storiche città dell’automobile. Torino è messa a confronto con Motor Valley, Wolfsburg, Stoccarda, Parigi e Boulogne-Billancourt, Londra e Coventry, Göteborg, Detroit. Il benchmarking si avvale di tre macro-indicatori principali: il potenziale rigenerativo, la valorizzazione del patrimonio storico e la promozione del turismo automotive. L’autrice fa delle competenze concernenti le tecnologie dell’architettura, il perno su cui incardinare il complesso di fattori.

The book originates from a project by ISMEL, Institute for the Memory and Culture of Work, Business and Social Rights. The study looks at architectural, constructive, productive, economic, design, social conditions in the historic motor towns. Turin is compared to Motor Valley, Wolfsburg, Stuttgart, Paris and Boulogne-Billancourt, London and Coventry, Gothenburg, Detroit. The benchmarking uses three main macro-indicators: the regenerative potential, the enhancement of historical heritage, and the promotion of automotive tourism. The author makes her expertise in the technologies of architecture the fulcrum on which to pivot the complex of factors.
